Description et exigences

The Programmes Project Manager, under the supervision of the Head of Programmes, is responsible the overall management and successful execution of all MoD projects related core and tasked deliverables.

Duties: The Project Manager is responsible for:

    Project manage the MoD Contracts contract and associated tasking to deliver all outputs to time, cost and in line with contractual requirements

    Act as the primary point of contact for the MOD customer and the Authority’s delivery team; building and maintaining the customer relationship on behalf of STS Defence and ensuring the smooth delivery of commercial transactions and management of customer dependencies

    Ensuring delivery of all contracted technical outputs including hardware, software, documentation and support

    Ensuring maintenance activities at MoD Sites and other facilities are executed effectively and in line with contractual requirements

    Working with the Procurement Team to manage suppliers and sub-contractors

    Working closely with the design and integration teams to ensure STS Defence acts as an effective systems integrator for new capabilities into RN platforms and facilities in accordance with an agreed Integrated, Test, Evaluation and Acceptance Plan 

    Manage design and development activities in accordance with engineering governance processes including Preliminary and Critical Design Reviews

    Working closely with the customer’s user community to correctly define and agree requirements for future opportunities

    Responsible for ensuring all contracted meetings are attended by appropriate level of SQEP

    Travel to all contracted meetings in both UK and overseas.

    Manage and oversee the planning and execution of all contracted meetings and reviews, acting as Chair and Secretary where required

    Delivery of the Contract Data Requirements List (CDRLs) which includes all contract documentation, plans and technical reports in accordance with the agreed plan

    Tracking and management of all GFX requirements

    Manage new tasks including scoping, cost estimating, agreement with the Authority and successful execution to time, cost and quality

    Implement regular project controls monitoring to manage budgets including WIP and Project Cost Analysis reviews

    Line manage core support personnel

    Report on project performance, in line with STS Defence processes

    Maintain and use project management artefacts including Project Management Plan, schedule and risk register

    Management of Project Safety and Security including organising, attending and acting as secretary for Project Safety Environmental Committees and Security Working Groups

    Review technical documents as and when required

    Developing business by actively seeking additional business opportunities for STS Defence either within existing contracts or wider opportunities

Skills/Qualifications: The Project Manager should have:

    Project management qualification or working towards them

    Experience in leading and managing technical teams

    Experience of delivering projects; managing budgets and working within time constraints

    Knowledge of Defence, particularly the RN and working with defence prime contractors in particular introducing changes onto RN platforms and associated processes

    Knowledge of CEMA/Secure Comms and experience working on highly sensitive projects

    Strong problem solving abilities

    Effective leadership, management, interpersonal and communications skills

    The ability to command respect and to create a sense of community within the engineering support teams

    Good knowledge of the techniques for planning, monitoring and controlling personnel
